U SPORTS announced Saturday that Cavendish Farms will be the title sponsor of the 2024 U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship hosted by UPEI at the Canada Games Alumni Field and UPEI Turf Field in Charlottetown, P.E.I. from October 30 to November 3.
As a local producer of frozen potato products, Cavendish Farms is a proud supporter of Canadian athletics and local communities. This partnership highlights the company’s continued commitment to fostering excellence in sport and providing young athletes with the platform to showcase their talent on the national stage.
"U SPORTS is proud to have Cavendish Farms as the title sponsor of the 2024 U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship," said Pierre Arsenault, Chief Executive Officer of U SPORTS. "Year after year, Cavendish Farms has been an incredible champion of university sports in Canada and particularly their support for women’s sport in the Maritimes is instrumental in elevating the experience for our student-athletes and fans.”
Cavendish Farms most recently served as title sponsor of the women’s hockey championship in 2022 and the men’s hockey championship in 2023, both hosted by UPEI.
“Cavendish Farms is pleased to continue our support of U SPORTS through the 2024 Women’s Rugby Championship. It’s exciting to see tournaments being hosted in communities where our employees live and work. We wish UPEI and U SPORTS all the best as they organize this national event,” said Robert K. Irving, President of Cavendish Farms.
This is the ninth U SPORTS Championship hosted by UPEI. Matches during the championship event will be played at both UPEI’s Artificial Turf Field and UPEI’s Alumni Canada Games Place, a multi-functional sport facility that was built for the 2009 Canada Summer Games and features MacAdam Field, a world rugby-regulation grass pitch.
The 2024 U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship promises to be a premier event, bringing together the best rugby student-athletes from across Canada and celebrating the spirit of competition and sportsmanship.
