Cavendish Farms and the Chef Collective

December 18, 2024

Earlier this summer, Cavendish Farms Foodservice teamed up with the Chef Collective, an organization founded by Chef Joe Friday that hosts culinary battles with the industry's best chefs. Chef Joe founded the Chef Collective in 2013, and has spent the last few years cultivating the Friday Burger Company and its three thriving locations in the Greater Toronto Area.

For the competition, The Chef Collective paired Chef Erica Karbelnik, co-owner of Karbs Catering and winner of Top Chef Canada Season 9, and Chef Dwight Smith, who competed in season 3 of Fire Masters, who went head-to-head in a competition to see who could make the ultimate dish using Cavendish Farms Foodservice Crinkle Cut French fries. These fries are gaining popularity because of their ability to hold up to loaded fry recipes and hold spice mixes in their nooks and crannies. The results were incredible. With just 20 minutes to prepare their dishes, both chefs were able to put together unique, delicious inventions.

In the end, it was Chef Dwight's Breakfast Hash versus Chef Erica's Mexican Eloté Beef Tartare on a bed of Crinkle Cut fries. Watch the video below to see how these two dishes came together—and to find out who won the friendly competition!
